If you are planning a summer holiday on the Costa del Sol or are planning a tour of Andalusia, you cannot miss a stop in Malaga. Here's what to see in Malaga.

What to see in Malaga

Second city in Andalusia after Seville. Malaga is the capital of the Costa del Sol. An unmissable stop if you are visiting the Spanish region or if you are on holiday in one of the many nearby seaside resorts.

Malaga is a wonderful city, where the sun always shines. Here good cuisine joins the sea, to culture, to traditions, to museums and the art of Pablo Picasso, born right here.

Malaga is connected by a very efficient train: he feels. More than a train, it looks like a real open-air metro that will allow you to admire an excellent view of the Costa del Sol during its slow journey.. In fact, it stops from the center of Malaga to all the main seaside resorts on the Costa del Sol, passing through the airport and McArthurGlen Designer Outlets in Malaga (a highly recommended stop for shopping lovers). All this with little more than 2 euros per ride. (I attach below the photo with the map of all the stops)

The city of Malaga can be easily explored on foot, reaching all the points of greatest interest. It will be nice to discover it , with a map always at hand to clearly understand the proximity of the main attractions. But the advice is to get a little lost in its ways, discovering places, restaurants, its views, its squares, its beauty in every corner….

Popularly known as La Manquita, it is one of the most important monuments of Andalusia with its Renaissance and Baroque charm

Gibilfaro Castle

It is located in the center of the city, and can be reached either by car or on foot via a walking route.

The castle was built to protect the Alcazaba fortress

E’ It can be visited every day except Monday and the opening hours are from 9.00 all 18.00 for the winter period, e 9.00-20.00 for the summer period. The ticket price is euros 2,20.

Climbing to the top of the castle you can enjoy more wonderful views, on the city.

Absolutely not to be missed!

From up here you can admire a crazy view of the port and beyond Bullring, the most famous arena in Spain. Bullfights are held here almost all year round.

Alcazaba and Roman Theater

The Alcazaba of Malaga is a fortress, or rather a citadel , which dominates the city. It is one of the most important and most visited attractions, one of the most important and best preserved Islamic works in all of Spain.

The Roman theater was discovered in 1950, after having remained buried for years.

Plaza de la Merced

E’ the square where Pablo Picasso's birthplace overlooks. This square is full of bars and places to eat or drink something.

The Atarazanas central market in Malaga is definitely worth a visit, for her beauty, for its vitality ,for its fresh and local products and for a pleasant outdoor stop at one of the many outdoor tables, tasting local dishes and tapas.

The port of Malaga runs alongside a series of spaces dedicated to relaxation, shopping, play areas for the little ones and a series of excellent bars and restaurants with terraces, from which to enjoy the free spectacle of the sea while walking.

The Malagueta

The most beautiful and renowned beach in Malaga can be reached by continuing along the port…..An immense beach… and the atmosphere you breathe is beautiful, a sweet meeting place to relax, for playing, to practice outdoor group sports.

The Pimpi

The Pimpi it is one of the most famous clubs in Malaga, frequented by both tourists and Andalusians.

With a magnificent view of the Roman theater and the Alcazaba, El Pimpi is the right place to drink a glass of wine from the province of Malaga, enjoy excellent tapas or have a dinner with friends.

The bodega offers the best of typical cuisine, from the simple mouthpieces to sardine skewers without forgetting the excellent Pata Negra.
