Visitare il Portogallo in macchina in un viaggio on the road è un’emozione fortissima. Un Paese  diverso da tutti gli altri Stati europei.  Unico per la sua storia, per la natura ed il clima, fortemente influenzato dall’Oceano Atlantico.

Rimarrai stupito dall’azzurro del cielo, da  colori accesi che troverai per le strade, rimarrai affascinato dall’architettura ma sopratutto dallo scenario spesso surreale che ti regalano alcune spiaggie e panorami sul mare.. All’improvviso, riuscivo a sentire quel senso di contatto così estremo e magico con la natura, che puoi toccare solo in alcuni luoghi al mondo…

Questo risulta un tour davvero ricco di emozioni perchè in grado di unire componenti davvero importanti in un viaggio: divertimento, natura, avventura, tradizioni, e scoperte.  Sono sicura che sarà un viaggio che rimarrà anche a te  nel cuore…. Un viaggio on the road renderà la tua vacanza davvero ricca di emozioni, perchè, unendo tanti fattori, ogni giorno ti sentirai  come un bambino davanti alla scoperta di cose nuove, mai viste. Ogni giorno è diverso e per questo unico e speciale.

Si può colmare la   voglia di avventura, e di nuove esperienze, la sete di cultura, soddisfare la curiosità, e assaporare il divertimento della scoperta.

Non stupirti se  verrai catapultato in luoghi magici e incredibili che forse non immaginavi,  a solo poche ore dall’italia.

 

Il consiglio di durata per un viaggio on the road da nord a sud è di 10-15 giorni.

Il portogallo si presta molto a questi tipi di viaggi e  le distanze non sono lunghissime. Da Porto all’estremo nord all’argarve, estremo sud, per esempio, il tempo di percorrenza è di circa 5 ore.

L’unico problema sta nella scelta dei luoghi da visitare. Perché sono così tanti e tutti così belli e caratteristici che decidere quali posti escludere, risulterà sicuramente molto arduo.

Il Clima

Prima di partire bisogna sapere che il clima è più freddo e umido al nord, mentre al sud è più secco e caldo.

Io ho viaggiato d’estate tra luglio e agosto.

In tutto il portogallo c’è una forte escursione termica tra il giorno e la notte, che arriva anche in estate a 10° di differenza. Un’altra costante è il vento che si presenta anche piuttosto forte al nord nei luoghi a ridosso dell’oceano. Mentre al sud diventa più leggero e piacevole di giorno e di sera spesso torna più insistente.

Quindi il consiglio è di portarvi capi leggeri per il giorno, sopratutto al sud, ma anche Giacca a vento, maglioncino e cappello per il vento e per le temperature perchè a volte sono molto fresche sopratutto la sera.

Trasporti 

Se noleggerete un’auto, il mezzo che vi consiglio di più, sia per prezzi che per comodità, è iportantissimo sapere che in Portogallo non ci sono i caselli autostradali a pagamento ma esiste un unico sistema elettronico di pagamento dell’autostrada che vi verrà chiesto se volete utilizzare sotto un piccolo compenso chiamato: Via Verde. Uguale al telepass italiano , vi permetterà di pagare l’autostrada e godervi il viaggio. Vi verrà inviato il pagamento sulla carta di credito successivamente o al vostro rientro.  Se non utilizzerete questo sistema, vi consiglio di non utilizzate l’autostrada perchè le multe potrebbero anche molto salate.

Il prezzo del noleggio come vi dicevo con alcune compagnie in portogallo è relativamente basso rispetto le altre destinazioni europee. Per un noleggio di 14 giorni ho speso neanche 300 euro..

Il portogallo non è una meta che consiglio ai motociclisti come noi, anche se credo sarebbe stupendo attraversare certi luoghi in moto, a causa delle condizioni climatiche, spesso fredde e spesso troppo ventose in alcuni punti e che quindi renderebbero il vostro viaggio un pò difficoltoso e poco piacevole.

Lo stesso vale se pensate di affittare uno scooter, vi consiglio di farlo se la vostra idea di viaggio e di puro relax e non decidete di affrontare tratte lunghe, ma bensì concentrarvi in brevi tratti.

Il sistema di trasporto in Portogallo è ben sviluppato e l’infrastruttura è buona con un’eccellente rete di strade. Il trasporto pubblico è a buon mercato, facile e molto efficiente. Sono 3 gli aeroporti internazionali è solo a Lisbona, Porto e Faro

l Portogallo ha una grande rete di strade (circa 69.000 km) e ogni città e villaggio può essere raggiunto da un efficiente sistema di strade

Il  sistema delle ferrovie è buono e  composto da una grande rete di treni regionali, interregionali e tram che coprono l’intero paese.

La compagnia ferroviaria portoghese CP (Portoghese Caminhos de Ferro) copre la maggior parte della terraferma e dispone anche di alcuni servizi internazionali tutto per un prezzo ragionevole.

I treni espressi Alfa Pendular offrono collegamenti comodi e veloci tra Lisbona e l’Algarve e tra diverse destinazioni nel nord. C’è anche un servizio intercity The lunghe che opera in tutto il paese, che collega molte delle principali città su entrambi i biglietti di 1 ° o 2 ° classe.

Lisbona e Porto, hanno un sistema di metropolitana.

Le  tappe

Il mio viaggio, è durato 14 giorni. Sono atterrata e ripartita da Lisbona. Dove ci aspettava un servizio bus navetta collegato con la compagnia di auto noleggio.

IL viaggio si è diviso così:

Partenza 28 luglio  con arrivo a Lisbona dove sono stata 2 giorni.

Il 30 mattina Ho visitato Sintra e il Palacio national de pena.

Successivamente ci siamo messi in viaggio in direzione Porto, e nel tragitto abbiamo visitato la Costa Nova do Prado e Aveiro.

Il Giorno dopo, 31 agosto, visita di Porto per l’intera giornata e abbiamo pernottato sempre li.

L’indomani mattina il 1 agosto ripartiamo per l’Algarve e ci fermiamo ad Agueda e nel pomeriggio tappa imperdibile di un viaggio anche interiore:Fatima.

Dormiamo in serata a Sines a metà strada per riposarci.

E al  mattino, il 2 agosto, ripartiamo da Sines direzione Lagos (in Algarve), dove ci fermiamo per una settimana, visitando tutte le spiaggie più belle dell’Algarve.

Vediamo Sagres, Lagos, Albufeira, Portimao, Loulè arrivando quasi a Faro.

Soggiorniamo in un hotel a Lagos, durante questi giorni, dai colori e caratteristiche decorative tipici portoghesi con una bellissima piscina esterna.

Consiglio se dovete girare l’Algarve, di pernottare invece a Portimao, per la sua centralità rispetto a tutte le altre destinazioni. Per il suo centro ricco di servizi, hotel, negozi e per la ricca e vivace vita che si respira sia di giorno che di notte. Inoltre il mare a Portimao è più caldo e quindi ci si può fare il bagno, e avrete a disposizione se vi piace la comodità oppure se viaggiate in famiglia di tutti quei servizi come ombrellone, lettini e ristorazione a portata di mano.

Distanze

Prima di organizzare un viaggio on the road, consultate bene le distanze tra un luogo e l’altro per rendere il più piacevole il viaggio e riuscire a vedere più cose possibili.

Porto- Algarve: circa 5 ore

Porto-Lisbona: 2 ore e 58

Porto- Aveiro: 54 minuti/ Costa nova do prado: 1 ora

Porto- Agueda: 59 minuti

Lisbona-Sintra: 25 minuti

Lisbona-Aveiro: 2 ore e 30

Lisbona- Algarve: 2 ore e 40

Lagos- Faro: 1 ora

Il portogallo è una meta molto ambita anche per i prezzi che sono realtivamente bassi e per la buona cucina.

Ecco Alcuni piatti tipici della regione che ho incontrato sempre nel mio viaggio….

Le Pasteis de bacalhau (le crocchette di baccalà fatte con patate e formaggio fuso)

Carne di maiale di Alentejo, servito in vari modi tra cui il più popolare è la Bifana, il tipico panino tondo con straccetti di carne.

Il frango, il pollo arrosto servito con le patate

Buonissimo il pesce che ho mangiato, tra i piatti più comuni della cucina portoghese rientrano:

Polvo con patate

Il Bacalhau fritto

le Pataniscas, ovvero delle frittelline di baccalà

La Dorada, l’orata

Le sardine assadas

Le sardine in scatola, esistono interi negozi di sardine in scatola con mille specialità diverse.

La Franchesinha piatto tipico di Porto (piatto portoghese molto corposo e sostanzioso: 2 fette di pane tostato che racchiudono un ripieno di carne di maiale e vitello, sormontate da un uovo fritto e ricoperte di formaggio fuso, il tutto accompagnato, per tradizione, da una salsa golosa e patatine fritte)

Pasteis de Nata, sono tipici dolci portoghesi fatti di pasta sfoglia e una calda e squisita crema pasticciera al suo interno.

Doce de casa è un dolce tipico servito nei ristoranti e taverne, una crema di latte dalla consistenza piuttosto densa con una spolverata di biscotto sopra.

Vino Porto 

Ginjinha, squisito liquore alla ciliegia

Lisbona

Sicuramente rimarrete affascinati da questa città, sarà faticosa in alcuni punti salire ma poi la vista compenserà sempre la fatica spesa. Vi ritroverete continuamente con lo sguardo rivolto verso l’alto, attratti dalle splendide facciate dai palazzi ricoperte delle tipiche Azulejos, le mattonelle in ceramica

Dalle stradine misteriose dell’Alfama ai monumenti Patrimonio UNESCO, dalle pazze serate in giro per il Bairro Alto alle note malinconiche del Fado, questa città è il posto giusto per una vacanza che unisce tradizioni ed esplorazione. Fate un giro sul mitico tram giallo numero 28, salutate la Torre di Belém sulle rive del Tago e gustatevi le specialità locali nelle taverne. Sedetevi negli splendidi Miradoures e fatevi trascinare dalla vista e dalle emozioni..

Cabo de rocha

Questo pensa è il punto più ad Ovest dell’Europa, situato a 140 metri dal mare. Qui dove la terra finisce e inizia al mare, così venne incisa questa scritta proprio qui, in questo luogo  imperdibile nei pressi di Sintra. Un panorama davvero suggestivo dove fa sfondo il mitico Faro.

Sintra e il Palacio National de Pena

E’ un comune portoghese nei pressi di Lisbona (circa 25 minuti). Il paesaggio naturale di Sintra rientra nei patrimoni dell’Umanità come il Palacio National de Pena, che sorge fantastico sulla collina. Una delle attrazioni più visitate del Portogallo. Un luogo davvero fiabesco!

Ericeira

Ericeira è oggi capitale mondiale del surf. La sua costa, è riserva di surf d’Europa e la seconda in tutto del mondo, è un affascinante alternarsi di falesie e insenature di spiagge di sabbia finissima….

Ma non è tutto  qui perchè rimarrai incantato anche dalla bellezze delle sue viuzze con le spettacolari viste sul mare.

Obidos

La cittadina medievale di Obidos è circondata da antiche mura, le sue vie sono dipinte in modo caratteristico,  le sue strade strette e acciottolate e poi puoi trovare il castello che risale a 800 anni fa…

Qui si tiene una delle feste medievali più belle d’Europa nei giorni della settimana a cavallo tra l’ultima di luglio e la prima di agosto.

Nazarè

Il borgo di pescatori più pittoresco del Portogallo. Diventanto famoso per le onde più alte al mondo che arrivano fino a 30 metri… Dal faro si può ammirare questo grandissimo spettacolo della natura! Davvero emozionante e incredibilmente surreale!

Costa nova do Prado

Nel distretto di Aveiro, Costa nova do prado è una meravigliosa località balneare ad un ora dalla città di Porto. Caratteristica per le sue case coloratissime e immense spiaggie di sabbia finissima. Queste case di legno a righe colorate caratteristiche del posto sono chiamate: Palheiros e furono costruite in passato dai pescatori per ripararsi e riporre le proprie attrezzature, mentre nel tempo sono diventate case vacanza.

Aveiro

Aveiro viene chiamata la Venezia Portoghese. Ciò che incanta notevolmente i turisti e il suo centro, i colori e i palazzi dall’ architettura Art Noveau, oltre la bellezza delle tipiche imbarcazioni. Adagiata tra mare e laguna averi è attraversata da canali che un tempo venivano solcati dai coloratissimi Moliceiros, le barche tradizionali, appunto, che oggi sono la principale attrazione turistica usati per romantiche crociere sul fiume.

Agueda

Camminare nel centro di Agueda vuol dire camminare tra un’esplosione di colori e giochi di luce. Ogni anno nel mese di luglio migliaia  di ombrelli colorati vengono appesi sopra le strade di questo comune del Portogallo grazie all’originalità del Umbrella sky project e come simbolo dell’AgitAgueda Art Festival, che porta in città anche spettacoli e concerti incredibili! La curiosa iniziativa iniziata tre anni fa ha portato in questa località migliaia di turisti.

Porto

Porto è una città ricca di fascino e particolare. Che riconosce il suo turismo sopratutto a livello enogastronomico e riconosce la sua fama nel vino.

La conoscenza di Porto non può che cominciare dalla Ribeira,  quartiere tipico e cuore medievale della città, dal 1996 sotto tutela UNESCO, e da dove si ammira un panorama pazzesco e le barche che passano sotto il mitico ponte Dom luis I, costruzione in ferro realizzata da un vicino collaboratore di Gustavo Effeil.

Le Tegole rosse ricoprono i tetti delle case e i tipici Azulejos, le piastrelle di ceramica decorate con disegni blu e bianchi, ricoprono numerose splendide facciate.

Coimbra

Coimbra è una movimentata città universitaria, sede di uno degli atenei più antichi d’Europa La città portoghese ha formato le menti illuminate del paese, ed oggi è il cuore pulsante della movida del Portogallo. Coimbra è perfetta per una tappa  romantica, grazie al suo fascino indiscusso.

Fatima

Celebre in tutto il mondo a livello religioso. Ogni anno attrae milioni di visitatori in pellegrinaggio per venerare e visitare il luogo dove Fatima apparse ai i tre pastorelli. Nel santuario infatti è possibile fermarsi a pregare davanti le tombe di questi tre pastorelli.

Tomar

La città di Tomar si trova nell’entroterra del Portogallo. Questo bellissimo borgo  è celebre in tutto il mondo per i suoi incantevoli edifici storici legati alle travagliate vicende dell’Ordine dei templari, la cui storia è saldamente intrecciata con quella di queste splendide terre. Il che rende il luogo un’altra tappa imperdibile in tour del Portogallo.

Qui in estate si tiene un’altro evento imperdibile celebrato ogni 4 anni! La Festa dos Tabuleiros dove le strade della città vengono decorate con composizioni bellissime di fiori di carta ed elementi tipici delle feste antiche e tradizionali oltre a spettacoli, musica, sfilate.

Algarve 

L’Algarve è la regione più a sud del portogallo e sopratutto il luogo dove ci sono alcune delle spiaggie più belle del mondo! Le più  belle e spettacolari spiaggie dell’Algarve sono sicuramente: Prado do Camilo, Praia do Vau (caratterizzata dall’argilla gialla),  Praia da Marinha, Spiaggia della grotta di Benagil, Praia de Rocha, Praia Dona Ana. Ma anche terra di tantissimi luoghi da visitare tra cui: Sagres, con la sua fortezza panoramica e le bellissime ceramiche, i vivaci centri di Lagos, Portimao e Albufeira. La piccola perla di Carvoeiro con il suo centro, e  le passeggiate panoramiche sul mare. La città antica e colorata di Loulè poco distante da Faro.

Considerate che le acque dell’oceano sono molto fredde anche in piena Estate e sarà difficile fare il bagno.

In alcuni punti però ho scoperto che l’acqua risulta molto più balneabile, rimanendo più calda, si tratta del tratto di spiaggia di Portimao, caratterizzata anche da mare più calmo.

Faro

La capitale dell’Algarve. Faro è una città molto tranquilla, rilassante e silenziosa e forse, proprio per questo motivo, snobbata dal turismo di massa che la considera solo una città di passaggio per visitare le splendide località balneari dell’Algarve. Eppure Faro merita, per tanti interessanti motivi, infatti questa graziosa e pittoresca cittadina ha un fascino ricco di storia,  insolito e misterioso. Da visitare assolutamente è la cattedrale di Santa maria o Igreja da Sè. Capolavoro architettonico dove all’interno si possono ammirare gli azulejos settecenteschi. Per i più coraggiosi invece si può visitare la Capela dos Ossos, un luogo molto mistico, dove le mura di quest’ultima sono rivestite da crani umani.

Suddenly, I could feel that sense of contact so extreme and magical with nature, that you can only touch in some places in the world …

This is a tour really rich in emotions because it is able to combine really important components in a journey: fun, nature, adventure, traditions, and discoveries. I am sure that it will be a journey that will also remain in your heart … A road trip will make your holiday really exciting, because by combining many factors, every day you will feel like a child in front of discovering new things, never seen before. Every day is different and therefore unique and special. You can fill your desire for adventure, and new experiences, the thirst for culture, satisfy curiosity, and the fun of discovery.

Do not be surprised if you are catapulted into truly magical and incredible places that you might not have imagined, just a few hours from Italy.

The advice for a journey on the road from north to south is 10-15 days.

Portugal is very suitable for these types of trips because it is a country where you can breathe the air of adventure and above all the distances are not very long. From Porto to the far north to the argarve, far south, for example, the travel time is about 5 hours.

The only problem is the choice of places to visit. Because they are so many and all so beautiful and characteristic that deciding which places to exclude, will surely be very difficult.

The climate

Before leaving you need to know that the climate is colder and wetter in the north, while in the south it is drier and warmer.

I traveled in summer between July and August.

Throughout Portugal there is a strong temperature difference between day and night, which also reaches 10 ° in the summer. Another constant is the wind that is also quite strong in the north in places close to the ocean. While in the south it becomes lighter and more pleasant during the day and in the evening it often returns more insistent.

So the advice is to bring you light clothes for the day, especially in the south, but also windbreaker, sweater and hat for wind and temperature because sometimes they are very cool especially in the evening.

Transportation

If you rent a car, the vehicle I recommend the most, both for prices and convenience, it is very important to know that there are no pay toll booths in Portugal but there is a single electronic highway payment system that you will be asked for. if you want to use under a small fee called: Via Verde. Equal to the Italian telepass, it will allow you to pay for the highway and enjoy the journey. The payment will be sent to your credit card later or upon your return. If you do not use this system, I advise you not to use the highway because the fines could also be very salty.

The rental price as I said with some companies in Portugal is relatively low compared to other European destinations. For a rental of 14 days I spent not even 300 euros ..

The Portuguese railway company CP (Portuguese Caminhos de Ferro) covers most of the mainland and also has some international services all for a reasonable price.

Alfa Pendular express trains offer convenient and fast connections between Lisbon and the Algarve and between different destinations in the north. There is also a long intercity service that operates throughout the country, linking many of the major cities on both 1st or 2nd class tickets.

Lisbon and Porto have a metro system.

The stages

My journey lasted 14 days. I landed and departed from Lisbon. Where a shuttle bus service connected with the car rental company was waiting for us.

The journey was divided like this:

Departure 28 July with arrival in Lisbon where I was 2 days.

On 30 morning I visited Sintra and the Palacio national de pena.

Later we set off for Porto, and on the way we visited the Costa Nova do Prado and Aveiro.

The next day, August 31, visit Porto for the whole day and we always stayed there.

The next morning, on August 1st, we set off again for the Algarve and stopped in Agueda and in the afternoon, an unmissable stop on an interior journey: Fatima.

We sleep in the evening at Sines halfway to rest.

And in the morning, on August 2nd, we leave Sines for Lagos (in the Algarve), where we stop for a week, visiting all the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve.

We see Sagres, Lagos, Albufeira, Portimao, Loulè coming almost to Faro.

We stay in a hotel in Lagos, during these days, with typical Portuguese colors and decorative features with a beautiful outdoor swimming pool.

I recommend if you have to go around the Algarve, to stay overnight in Portimao, due to its central position compared to all other destinations. For its center full of services, hotels, shops and for the rich and lively life that is breathed both day and night. Moreover the sea in Portimao is warmer and therefore you can swim, and you will have at your disposal if you like comfort or if you are traveling with family of all those services such as umbrellas, sunbeds and catering at hand.

Before organizing a trip on the road, consult the distances between one place and another to make the journey as pleasant as possible and be able to see as many things as possible.

Here are some typical dishes of the region that I have always encountered in my journey….

Le Pasteis de bacalhau (cod croquettes made with potatoes and melted cheese)

Lisbon

Surely you will be fascinated by this city, it will be tiring in some places to climb but then the view will always compensate for the effort spent. Costa nova do Prado

In the district of Aveiro, Costa nova do prado is a wonderful seaside resort one hour from the city of Porto.Characteristic for its colorful houses and immense beaches of fine sand. Lighthouse

The capital of the Algarve. Faro is a very quiet, relaxing and silent city and perhaps, for this reason, snubbed by mass tourism that considers it only a city of passage to visit the beautiful seaside resorts of the Algarve. And yet Faro deserves, for many interesting reasons, in fact this pretty and picturesque town has a charm rich in history, unusual and mysterious.
